Want crew? Here’s two
We’re a South African-German couple currently travelling through Southeast Asia and the Pacific, looking for opportunities to join boats as crew. Sailing is our long-term goal — we’re working toward owning an off-grid catamaran and cruising the world, and every passage brings us closer.
Michael owns a 22ft Sunbeam that he renovated himself, has 10,000+ nm logged as both skipper and crew, is calm and capable at sea, and genuinely loves everything about boats — from passage planning to fixing things that shouldn’t be broken. He’s keen to log serious offshore miles to help him progress toward his RYA Yachtmaster Offshore.
Vida is newer to sailing but quick to learn and always willing to jump in. She brings strong cooking skills, a PADI diving cert, and a background in childcare — which makes her especially popular on family boats.
We’re reliable, easygoing, and love the simple rhythms of life onboard — early mornings at anchor, shared meals, and working as a team toward the same destination. We’re confident swimmers, rarely seasick, travel light, and bring a sense of humour to whatever the passage throws at us. We’re both divers and happiest when there’s an excuse to get in the water. Happy to help with sail handling, watches, cooking, cleaning, provisioning, or whatever the boat needs.
