Novice Crew Available – Ready to Learn, Help & Adventure
I’m 24 and from the US, looking to gain real sailing experience and become an active part of life onboard. I’ve lived abroad in Colombia, speak Spanish around a B2 level, and have backpacked independently through Ecuador, Peru, and Bolivia. I’m a former science teacher with a mechanical engineering background and am comfortable with simple living, long days, new environments, and being part of a team.
I don’t have much sailing experience yet, but I’m genuinely eager to learn and contribute wherever needed, whether that’s cooking, cleaning, maintenance, watches, passage prep, or learning to handle sails. I’m very active and outdoorsy and spend a lot of my time hiking, rock climbing, running, and playing hockey. I’m not looking for a charter or simply a free ride; I want to learn to sail, meet good people, and actually be useful onboard.
I’m available from late July/August onward and am flexible on location, route, and trip length. I’m especially interested in longer trips, island hopping, and ocean passages, but I’m open to the right opportunity anywhere.
