Reliable crew/skipper and noncoflict shipmate, ready for the long passages.
32 years old. Started sailing when I was 10.
Arround 40k NM ocean experience, 20k as a skipper. 2 Atlantic crossings, 2 Pacific crossings(E to W and W to E). Years of inland sailing background. Professional depth freediver(100+meters), national record holder, scuba divemaster, ocean lover.
I am a positive, peaceful and very calm person, disciplined, as a sailor. Im not an engineer but Im good with tools and experienced with many boat systems.
Even though I have skippering experience I feel "rusty" as a sailor(last sailed in 2020). At the moment Im looking for the role as a crew, preferably on the long passage to refresh my skils and knowledge.
Im also happy to share my freediving knowledge and skills, which can be very useful for sailors as well.
Hi, my name is Rafal, Im 32 yo. I am a great enthusiast of sailing since I was 10, when I joined the sailing scouts team in my hometown. Initially I was sailing inland on lakes and rivers including racing on my own 420 class. I was combining university studies(water engineering) with additional work as an inland sailing and powerboat instructor. When I was 22 I had my first ocean crossing experience as a delivery crew on Janneau 43 from Canaries to Saint Martin. Honestly, I had tears in my eyes when we were leaving the marina and setting sails and course towards an open ocean. My childhood dreams become the reality in that moment. After the crossing Ive spend a few months cruising as a crew in between the Caribbean islands. Half a year later I got accepted as a delivery crew for the Pacific crossing, all the way from Panama to Australia. In November 2016 I did my first Atlantic crossing as a skipper. At the end of 2017 I got a full time position as a skipper/engineer on Amel 64. In 2 years I did thousands of miles on that boat on the South Pacific region, including W to E crossing all the way from Fiji to Costa Rica. In 2020 I did the freediving course and fell in love with that sport so much that I havent sailed since. Now Im a 100+ meters depth competitive freediver and an instructor of that wonderfull activity. But I have a sailors heart, and I feel that now, after few years of diving, its time to come back to sailing and enjoy the ocean from a different perspective.
