Deck Department
Hello
I am seeking any commercial opportunities on sea-going vessels, specifically within the deck department. Please note, I am working towards MCA-approved OOW (II) status. I have recently attended maritime college full time and have passed the MCA approved exams in navigation, stability & structures and meteorology and others.
Please see my qualifications section detailing recent STCW certificates etc. Most recent STCW courses were crowd management, crisis management and human behaviour. My next courses will be GMDSS and PSCRB. Right now, my priority is to complete the 6 months sea time required for gaining EDH (I have already passed the EDH written and oral).
I hold a seaman's discharge book. I am ISM, MARPOL, SOLAS requirements and IRCPS aware, having studied and been examined on these at nautical college.
Paid work - Fishing sector, guard vessels, passenger/Ro-Ro ferries, deliveries, superyachting, coastal general cargo/bulkers/chemicals/containers.....anything considered.
Unpaid work - I will consider unpaid opportunities when not on commercial work as I am a reasonably well experienced sailor and I like sailing. You may be a private vessel owner or similar who is simply looking for a competent 1st mate to accompany you in transit to somewhere, so please feel free to drop me a message and we can have a discussion about your passage plans and situation.
I have been sailing yachts recreationally and professionally for a long time, I'm currently active with 4,500 nM sailed recently. That's predominantly professional deliveries some self-chartered coastal cruising and a few days out away with friends etc.
I am also experienced in the upkeep and maintenance of sailing and motor vessels in a professional capacity when I was previously a marine engineering mechanic (electrical specialist). I possess a competent knowledge of marine engineering systems on vessels up to 6000GT.
I have both crewed for skippers and obtained crew on Crewbay, please see my references/recommendations.
Thank you
David
Great company and knows the ropes!
Good fun on trip from Dartmouth to Swanage and back. Easy going and working well towards his Yachtmaster. Solid and knowledgeable crew.
