Experienced Sailor 6+ years experience - Part or full time work on sail yachts
Hello, My name is Connor Teskey. I am freshly graduated from high school and looking to formally begin a career in the sailing industry. I have sailed my whole life beginning with my family PDQ36, and later transitioning to tall ships at the age of 12. I began on the T.S. Playfair with Brigs Youth Sail Training ( formally known as Toronto Brigantine), working my way through the ranks to become a Senior Watch Officer responsible for navigating the ship through the great lakes both day and night, educating youth trainees, and carrying out routine patience both on deck, and in the engine room. Additionally, I had just returned from a year abroad sailing aboard the German tall ship Alexander Von Humbolt 2 with the school Class Afloat, where I achieved the rank of Ordinary Seaman. In total, I estimate to have sailed upwards of 15 000 nautical miles since the age of 12, sailing throughout the Great Lakes, and the Atlantic, crossing it twice. Over this winter I plan on getting a Cheif Mate 150ton ticket with Transport Canada.
My hopes are to join vessels in need of a competent crew, who can stand watch, and carry out maintenance when needed, or teach beginner skippers the fundamentals of sailing and navigation.
