Sun, sea & steady winds – ready to crew!
I’m Kathi, my sailing journey started with a big one: from the Netherlands (Medemblik) all the way down to Spain (Motril) between 2021–2022 on a Phantom 35. We lived mostly at anchor (and mostly sailed without autopilot). We were fixing things as we went - sometimes because they broke, sometimes because they never worked in the first place. It was hands-on, occasionally chaotic, but the best way to really learn what life on a boat means.
Since then, I’ve kept building experience:
2023: I got my FB2 sailing license. Crewed from Monastir via Malta & Sicily to Greece
2024: Joined Gaya for a Mallorca weekend, then coastal sailing from Valencia to Gibraltar and my first proper crossing to Tenerife
Somewhere along the way I improved my sailing confidence, and learned to enjoy night watches (well… most of the time).
I’m comfortable with daily boat routines..preparing for docking, keeping things tidy, sail handling, and I’ve even become quite good at sewing sails. I like to keep a clean boat, and contribute to a relaxed and positive onboard atmosphere. I do get seasick sometimes, but ginger tea and the right mindset go a long way, and I manage it well.
What I’m looking for?
A few weeks of sailing, good people, shared responsibility, and that simple joy of dropping anchor in a beautiful bay. I’m based in Vienna but flexible around Europe and yes, Madeira still sounds like a dream.

Kathi crewed for me on my 12m sailboat from April to July 2023. She came aboard ready to sail and be an integral part of the crew. Open minded and questioning attitude for unfamiliar tasks. Great cook! Very athletic, excellent at Backgammon, great attitude, definitely welcome back anytime.
