Watch: Summer 2025
Sailing south
I am sailing direction south. The boat is ready for a new crew. You can start in October 2025.
I can teach you sailing, navigation, boat maintenance, everything about boats and low-cost traveling. The crew can help with: driving the boat, night shifts (if we do longer sailing), mooring the boat, cleaning, cooking (I am vegetarian, but vegan food is not a problem for me. My girlfriend is vegan, and I am used to it), and boat sitting if I go sightseeing or shopping.
I paid for the boat. The crew can pay for the marinas. (It is a small boat, and the marinas are around 30 euros per night. If you are a couple or 2 friends: it will be 15 euros per person. It is much, much cheaper than staying in a hostel.)
No skills needed, just motivation for work and learn.
Rules of the boat:
No drugs allowed on the boat, also no meat or seafood (bringing and cooking on the boat), and no fishing.
It is a sailing boat and I almost not using the engine. I am using the engine just to get in and get out of the marinas; the rest will be sailing using the wind. I am not going if there is a forecast for more than 30 knots of wind gusts.
The plan is to move the boat from the Netherlands to Belgium, France, Spain until Portugal before November 2025. Later, I will do an Atlantic crossing with my girlfriend. But my girlfriend is in Bulgaria now, and she can not help until November.
If you have more than a few days of free time, is better because sometimes we need to wait for nice weather before the passage.

I am filming all of the trip. You can see the interior and the exterior of the boat on my YouTube channel:

My First Sail and It Won’t Be My Last! Falling in Love with Sailing, Thanks to Ivan.
I had the joy of sailing with Captain Ivan for three days as part of his crew, and it completely changed how I feel about the sea. He’s not only a skilled and knowledgeable captain, but also deeply passionate about sailing—his love for the ocean is contagious. Ivan is kind, honest, and friendly, and he always made me feel like his boat was my home. As someone from Hong Kong, I’ve never had much access to sailing, but thanks to Ivan, I’ve truly fallen in love with it. Wishing him and his partner many wonderful adventures ahead. I hope our paths cross again—maybe on the ocean, or even in Hong Kong one day! Check out his sailing stories on YouTube: @ivanlodkaran
