Watch: Summer 2025

From Netherlands to Portugal

I am sailing direction south singlehanded, but If somebody wants to join and help, it will be easier and more fun for me. I can teach you sailing, navigation, boat maintenance, everything about boats and low cost traveling. The crew can help with: driving the boat, night shifts (if we do longer sailing), mooring the boat, droping anchor, cooking (I am vegetarian, but vegan food is not problem for me. My girlfriend is vegan and i am used to it), boat sitting if i go siteseeing or shopping .
We can share the marina fees on the way (it is a small boat and it is cheaper than staying in a hostel). If you are 2 persons : couple or friends it will be even cheaper for you. If we stay on anchor, you don't have to pay anything. But from time to time we need to go to marina to buy food and do showers and laundry.
No skills needed, just motivation for work and learn.
No drugs allowed on the boat, also no meat or seafood (bringing and cooking on the boat), and no fishing.
The plan is to move the boat from the Netherlands to Belgium, France, Spain till Portugal before November 2025. Later i will do Atlantic crossing with my girlfriend. But my girlfriend is in Bulgaria now and she can not help before the summer.
If you have more than few days free time is better because sometimes we need to wait for nice weater before the passage.

My First Sail and It Won’t Be My Last! Falling in Love with Sailing, Thanks to Ivan.

5

I had the joy of sailing with Captain Ivan for three days as part of his crew, and it completely changed how I feel about the sea. He’s not only a skilled and knowledgeable captain, but also deeply passionate about sailing—his love for the ocean is contagious. Ivan is kind, honest, and friendly, and he always made me feel like his boat was my home. As someone from Hong Kong, I’ve never had much access to sailing, but thanks to Ivan, I’ve truly fallen in love with it. Wishing him and his partner many wonderful adventures ahead. I hope our paths cross again—maybe on the ocean, or even in Hong Kong one day! Check out his sailing stories on YouTube: @ivanlodkaran

Ivan is a patient and calm captain , he navigates an old but nice and functional boat. He has the necessary skills to teach you nodes, manoeuvres, and generally sailing. I spent 8 days in his crew and it was a wonderful time , we went through very nice days of navigation. Ivan is a really honest and nice person and I can only recommend to navigate with him! Thanks again captain ! See you around the world maybe in South America ?
