Watch: Sailing fast, living slow

Delivery Crew - Temporary / Seasonal - $0.0 - United States

While we do require some experience on the water and sailing, we do not require experience on this caliper of boat. We do not race this boat, we cruise this boat. That does sometimes include speeds in the mid 20s, which is an incredible experience and demands that somebody has at least basic knowledge on the physics of sailing, sailing terminologies and knows proper safety protocol. So if you do not have professional experience, you are still welcome to apply for this, but you should have a healthy understanding of what is physically happening on a sailboat and great attention to detail.

We do not under any circumstances nor have we ever provided Transport/travel expenses too or from our Boat. We are sharing an incredible experience on a boat that not many people get the opportunity to sail on… THAT is the value we offer and we feed you underway. Please do your homework in advance to see if getting yourself to our destination and departing from our intended destination makes sense to you for this experience.

Safety harnesses which we provide, (you are welcome to bring your own) are required to be worn on the deck at all times while Offshore under Sail… there will be tethers provided. Clip in requirements are slightly lenient due to the platform of this vessel being over 10% of an acre.

The only two absolute required tasks by Crew are standing night watch shift (two hour watch with a two hour standby. Our standby position is sleeping near the helm so that if the individual on watch needs assistance in anyway they can request it to the standby position without needing to leave the helm) The boat is equipped with auto pilot and AIS
The second required task is maintaining basic daily living functions A.k.a. just a communal effort in keeping the space clean, neat and taking part in meals whether it be washing dishes, helping cook, etc. etc.
We provide food for Crew when the boat is in motion. When the boat is sitting in port you will provide yourself your own meals if we were to eat out or make a little bit of contribution at the grocery. This is lenient, but if we are sitting in Port for a week due to weather, we are not feeding you the entire time.

There are many other optional tasks for Crew, who want to get involved and learn more.

But overall, we run a fun fast and comfortable boat where Crew tend to have an incredible experience.
We have all creature comforts from induction cooking and propane cooking as well as a grill. Water maker, Shower, full head and a diesel heater if necessary. We also Take our fishing very seriously and enjoy Crew who love to fish and eat fresh tuna, mahi, etc.
This is a boat that was originally designed as a racing boat. The interior space has everything you need, but is very snug. Crew quarters are single bunks in open spaces, if you need privacy, you will have to utilize the head.

  • Boat descriptionTritium was originally a 60 foot ORMA built in 2002. In 2010 She became the prototype/test platform for the upcoming 72 foot Americas cup boat builds where she was extended to 72 feet and foils were added…. She has quite the racing pedigree behind her, but in 2019 with the chaos of the world through that time. She became cast aside and like many great “racehorse” of the past that wind up behind the barn they are just put down…. After 13 years full-time sailing experience and partnered with an equally capable marine engineer, we took on the challenge of rescuing her and converting her to a cruiser… 2 1/2 years and nearly 8000 miles later she unlike anything you’ll ever step foot on… she offers both the opportunity to do 40 kn under Sail while you can also make water on solar power, cook on induction cooking, and take a hot shower. And while she offers capabilities to travel at such high rates of speed, we are very much cruisers not sailors. We run a safe ship with conservative canvas and highly respected mother nature. Weather windows are choosen very strategically, and and we do not permit any type of scheduling or deadline to step aboard this vessel other than those dictated by mother nature. most of our passages are absolutely phenomenal sleigh rides in the high teens to low 20s knotts range We have necessary safety equipment on board and all crew Will be provided with a Offshore safety harness while on board which they will be required to wear on deck at all times Offshore.
