Cruising the med
I'm a liveaboard cruiser working remotely, and I'm looking for crew to help me manage the boat as I sail around the Mediterranean. I am currently looking for crew for a few days of sailing around Sicily before starting a trip from Sicily to Barcelona, starting on September 19th and arriving October 5th.
For sailing around Sicily, I'm looking for someone available from September 10th to the 19th.
After that, the trip will be broken up in three main crossings, which will be done on weekends to accomodate my work schedule. First Sicily to Sardinia, departing on Friday, September 19th and arriving on Sunday, which should take around 40 hours. Then on Friday, September 26th we will cross from Sardinia to Menorca, which should take another 40 hours. Finally we will cross from Menorca to Barcelona on Saturday, October 4th. This crossing should take around 20 hours.
Details are of course subject to change depending on weather.
Aside from the crossings, the trip itself will consist of short hops from anchorage to anchorage, mooring at marinas every few days to load up on supplies (fresh food, water, fuel). We would spend a few nights at interesting destinations before setting out again.
I'm looking for three others to share the trip. The position is open for everyone, from novice sailors who are motivated and eager to learn, to experienced sailors. What matters most is your attitude and willingness to look after the ship.
If you're interested, please let me know in your application when you would be available, how much prior notice you need to make your travel arrangements, and how long you would like to stay aboard for.
I expect a commitment of at least two weeks, boarding in Sicily (around Palermo) and leaving in Barcelona. Boarding and disembarking are flexible in that you are welcome to join some days before we start the crossing, and spend a few days aboard after we arrive if you wish to explore Barcelona.
Regarding costs: I will cover any expenses related to running the boat (fuel, marina costs, etc). There's a 10 EUR daily contribution to help with costs. Food expenses will be shared. Travel to and from the ship will be covered by the crew.
Amazing experience with Juan and Atenea sailboat.
