Looking for a Deckhand position
Hi there,
I am 22 years old, seeking a Junior Deckhand position onboard a motor vessel (M/V) or sailing vessel (S/V). I am new to this industry; however, my previous jobs have equipped me with the skills necessary for this field. I have worked with children as well as demanding customers, so I know how to work in an environment with no room for error and long, demanding hours. I have no issues with these conditions; in fact, I take them as a challenge and always try to go above and beyond to deliver.
I recently completed a two-week day work experience with CTYS in Cape Town. During this time, I learned a great amount and built up confidence working on a vessel. I enjoyed working with my team, with whom I built strong relationships, and I enjoyed learning from my supervisor. We completed washdowns and detailing on multiple vessels, and when I was done with my tasks, I went and helped the interior team.
I believe I will be a huge asset in the industry because I always strive to be the hardest working person in the room. I go above and beyond with my work and try to help others while doing so. I am fueled with energy and get along with everyone. I prefer working in team environments because I love growing with people and achieving the best team chemistry possible. I look forward to starting my yachting journey as I want to pursue it as a career
