Looking for Opportunities to Meet People, Explore New Places, and Build Miles.
I was fortunate enough to start sailing at a young age with my uncle along the Gulf Coast of Texas. I continued sailing into my 20’s including several extended Pacific passages along the Western Coast of the US. A few years ago, after a long break from sailing, I felt the call of the sea beckoning me back while visiting Thailand. I was invited to sail around the Gulf of Thailand and was reminded how much I love sailing.
Because I am retired and have the time, I decided to pursue my USCG Captain license. I have completed all of the requirements including passing the exam. I hope to have my license issued in the next couple of months. While I may be receiving a piece of paper that says I am qualified, I understand that I still have so much to learn. I am seeking opportunities to sail with more experienced skippers with the goal of honing my skills and learning as much as possible. Almost all of my experience is near coastal. I would love the opportunity to make passages further and further from the coast, eventually working up to making a full crossing.
I am pretty easy going but at the same time, a hard worker. As a team player, I enjoy doing whatever it takes to make things work: cleaning, cooking, changing engine oil, etc. My time on this planet has enabled me to understand that things often do not go as planned. I am flexible and adaptable and can handle change with ease. Meeting and getting to know new people and exploring new areas is one of my favorite part of joining various crews. I typically do not have any issues with getting along with anyone.
