Looking for a Competent Crew position
Adishatz,
I'm Tom, I'll be 24 in two days, and I was planning to celebrate at sea on the sailboat I was going to use to cross the Atlantic from La Rochelle, but an engine problem forced us to stop in Gijón, Spain, with no certainty about what will happen next. I already had feelings that this boat and its captain was not the one I should embarque with, but didn't want to listen to it. And so I decided to quit in Portugal and try to find another vessel. So now I'm looking for a new boat to cross the ocean, preferably in south america.
I have nearly 6,800 miles under my belt, one year on historic rigging (3 masts, square sails : the frigate Shtandart) and a few weeks on classic yachts. I am skilled at reading the wind, both on charts and on board; night and day watches are no longer a surprise to me, nor are long stays without touching land; I can communicate by radio in French, English, and Spanish; I can steer for hours and think I can be of good advices.
I enjoy sharing knowledge, experiences, stories, cooking, jokes, playing games, and enjoying the moment!
I am extremely motivated and will not return back home. Perhaps we could meet up somewhere along your route?
Best regards, Tom
