Looking for a Competent Crew, Mile building, Voluntary work or Friendship position
Hi there,
I’m a 44-year-old father of two, recently divorced, and currently making the most of my time by getting out on the water as much as possible. I hold a Competent Crew qualification and am actively working towards my Day Skipper, so I’m very keen to build experience and continue progressing my skills.
I’m genuinely enthusiastic about sailing—not just the technical side, but the whole experience of being out on the water with good people. I’m particularly interested in joining crews where I can learn, contribute, and enjoy the journey in equal measure.
Professionally, I’m self-employed, which gives me a good degree of flexibility. I can often make myself available at relatively short notice, including weekdays, which I know can be useful.
In terms of what I bring: I’m practical, hands-on, and always willing to get stuck in—whether that’s on deck, helping with manoeuvres, or taking care of the less glamorous jobs. I’m also more than happy to cook, clean, and contribute to the overall running of the boat. I’m easygoing, sociable, and respectful of others’ space and experience, and I like to think I bring a positive, calm energy onboard.
Above all, I’m keen, reliable, and eager to learn. I’d really value any opportunity to get involved, build miles, and enjoy more time sailing with a good crew.
