Looking for a Deckhand or Delivery Crew position
Hi, I’m Nick, a South Coast–based deckhand at the start of a long term career in yachting, working toward becoming a captain.
I’ve been building solid, hands on experience at sea through regular time on the water, including coastal passages, night running, close quarters manoeuvring and general deck operations. I’ve had the opportunity to get involved across different areas onboard, from watchkeeping and helming under guidance to day to day deck duties, and I’ve found that I really enjoy being involved in all aspects of running a vessel rather than being confined to one role.
I’m someone who learns quickly, stays calm under pressure and takes pride in doing things properly. I’m easy to get on with, take direction well and fit into a team naturally, while also being proactive and willing to step up when needed. I enjoy the physical side of deck work just as much as the responsibility that comes with time on the bridge, and I’m keen to keep developing both practical seamanship and navigational skills together.
At 40, I’m making a deliberate and committed move into this industry with a clear long term path. My aim is to progress through the ranks properly, building real experience toward Officer of the Watch and ultimately captain. I’m focused on learning, contributing and being part of a professional, well run vessel.
Qualifications include full STCW, RYA Powerboat Level 2, VHF/SRC, RYA First Aid and Day Skipper theory, with ongoing sea time and progression toward Yachtmaster Offshore.
I’m also happy to support wherever needed onboard, including cooking and keeping interior spaces clean and organised, and I understand how important it is to maintain high standards across the whole vessel.
I’m particularly interested in opportunities on motor yachts where I can be involved across both deck operations and bridge support, learning from experienced crew and building well rounded experience.
I’m available immediately and open to seasonal, permanent or delivery work.
