Looking for a Voluntary work, Security Officer, Deckhand or Diver position
Hi everyone,
I've just joined Crewbay and I'm interested in finding opportunities as a Voluntary Crew Member, Deckhand, Security Officer, or Diver. I'm looking forward to meeting new people, learning from experienced sailors, and becoming part of a crew that shares a passion for the sea and adventure.
I'm a 34-year-old Italian currently living in Switzerland, and I'm at a point in my life where I'm looking for a new experience and a meaningful change. The sea has always been a big part of who I am. That's why I attended a Nautical Technical Institute in Italy, where I graduated with a maritime education.
During my summer holidays as a student, I spent two months working aboard vessels involved in port operations in Ancona. This gave me my first professional experience at sea and taught me the basics of life and work on board. I still have my old seaman's book, although I will most likely need to renew all certifications.
After moving to Switzerland, I served for five years in the Swiss Armed Forces, progressing through the ranks to become a Major. During that time, I completed various leadership and command courses and gained extensive experience in team management, decision-making under pressure, responsibility, and discipline.
Later, I joined the Swiss Federal Police, where I currently work. However, after going through a divorce, I realized that I need to reconnect with the passion for the sea that I have neglected over the years and pursue a different path.
I am also a passionate Rescue Diver and have recently fallen in love with surfing. In addition, I have previous sailing experience from a one-month sailing trip in Greece and two weeks sailing in Croatia when I was younger.
What I can bring to a crew is reliability, leadership, teamwork, adaptability, and a strong work ethic. I'm not afraid of hard work, long watches, challenging conditions, or learning new skills. I enjoy working with people from different backgrounds and adapting to whatever situation comes my way.
My plan is to continue working until the end of 2026 to save some money and then set off on a new adventure. I am prepared to leave behind the comfort and security of my current life in order to feel truly free, alive, and challenged again.
