Motivated young crew member, focused on gaining sea time and experience to become a skipper
Hi everyone,
My name is Mattias, I'm 20 and sailing is my passion. I'm working towards my dream of making a living from it as a skipper. To get there, I'm looking to sail as often as possible and build up as much sea experience as I can — day sails, cruises, deliveries or races, I'm up for anything.
I hold the Belgian restricted and general boating licences, and I plan to earn more qualifications in the coming months (VHF and the Belgian Yachtman certificate). I also completed two years of study at the Antwerp Maritime Academy.
I've already taken part in races and crewed on several trips: inland waters in Belgium and the Netherlands, the Mediterranean, the Adriatic and the North Sea. I'm comfortable at the helm and standing my own watches, including at night. I'm still less experienced with manoeuvres, mechanics and boat maintenance, but that's exactly what I want to learn — and I'm the kind of person who throws himself into it to improve.
I'll turn my hand to anything: manoeuvres, watches, cooking, maintenance, cleaning. I'm here to help and to give my best.
My budget is limited, so I'm looking for low-cost or free shared sailing. In return, I bring motivation, a positive attitude, reliability and a genuine helping hand on board.
If you're looking for a dependable crew member who's keen to learn, feel free to get in touch. Looking forward to sailing with you!
