Experienced Paramedic, Divemaster & Skipper (SRC) Seeks Med Passages (3-10 days, April–June 2027)
Hi, I am a mature, non-smoking, and highly reliable Norwegian professional looking for short-term opportunities to join Mediterranean passages or yacht deliveries in April or May. I am targeting shorter trips lasting between 3 to 10 days. While I am relatively new to sailing, I bring extensive maritime experience from powerboats and an elite medical and diving background focused entirely on safety, risk assessment, and crew welfare.
Professional Background & Medical Expertise
30 Years as a Paramedic (Norway): In Norway, paramedics work with a very high degree of autonomy. I am highly trained to treat acute illnesses and traumatic injuries independently, including diagnosing conditions and administering critical medications without a doctor present.
What this means for your boat: I provide ultimate peace of mind for the skipper and crew. I can act as your medical officer, assist in reviewing the onboard medical/first-aid kit before departure, and handle any emergency calmly and professionally.
Boating Experience, Diving & QualificationsPowerboat Experience:
Long-time experience operating motorboats up to 40 feet in challenging coastal and offshore waters (CE Category B) also in the north of Norway. I understand wave patterns, heavy weather, navigation, and general boat systems (12V/24V, diesel engines, plumbing).
Certificates:
I hold a valid, official SRC / VHF Certificate and am fully trained in emergency radio and distress protocols.
PADI Divemaster: Certified professional diver. I am trained in water rescue, surface support, and underwater problem-solving. I am fully capable of diving under the hull to clear fouled propellers/rudders, inspecting anchors, or retrieving lost gear.
Norwegian Boating License (Båtførerprøven): Officially covers the full theoretical requirements for the ICC (International Certificate of Competency) for vessels up to 24 meters. Fully qualified in coastal navigation, colregs (collision regulations), and maritime safety.
Sailing: Very limited for now, but I am physically fit, a quick learner, and eager to assist with sails, lines, and deck work.
On Board Personality
I am highly structured, calm under pressure, and used to living and working in tight spaces with diverse teams. I am more than happy to do my share of night watches, helm duties, cooking, and maintenance. I am looking for Mediterranean passages to gain hands-on sailing experience and build official miles, with the long-term goal of taking my RYA Yachtmaster.
Availability & Flexibility/Timeframe:
Highly flexible and available throughout April to June 2027.
Preferred Location: Anywhere in the Mediterranean (Yacht deliveries, island-hopping passages, or seasonal relocations).
Financials: I am fully prepared to cover my own travel expenses to/from the boat and contribute to the food kitty.Looking forward to hearing from you and discussing how I can contribute to a safe, professional, and efficient passage!
