Looking for a Voluntary work, Novice Crew or Friendship position
I’m based in Bali and looking to join a recreational sailing trip, expedition or meaningful ocean journey for up to one month.
I’m very flexible geographically and happy to join in Indonesia, Southeast Asia, the Maldives, the Indian Ocean, Egypt, Africa or other destinations that are practical for me to reach. I’m also open to longer multi-country routes, as long as my participation can be limited to a suitable leg of up to about 3–4 weeks.
I’m the founder of a coral restoration project in Bali, where our team has planted more than 500,000 corals. Our work has been recognised by the local government for its contribution to marine conservation. Coral reefs, marine ecosystems and restoration have become a major part of my life, and I love sharing this knowledge with other people.
I’m also an Advanced scuba diver with 500 dives and feel completely at home in the ocean. On the right journey, I can bring something meaningful beyond simply being another pair of hands onboard: I can give engaging talks about coral reefs, marine life, reef restoration and ocean conservation, help with marine-life identification, support underwater activities, and add an educational or conservation element to the experience.
I’m not a professional sailor, but I already have experience travelling and helping onboard boats with friends. I understand that life at sea is about teamwork, flexibility and shared responsibility. I’m a fast learner and happy to help with watches, basic deck tasks, provisioning, dishes, organisation and other reasonable onboard responsibilities while learning more about sailing.
Professionally, I have been running my own travel company for 13 years. I’m experienced in managing teams, coordinating complex logistics, solving problems quickly and working with travellers from different cultures and backgrounds. I’m sociable, energetic, emotionally intelligent and usually find it easy to connect with very different personalities. I’m also independent, responsible and comfortable taking initiative when something needs to be organised.
I could be especially useful on a boat that combines sailing with diving, exploration, conservation, education or guest experiences. I can also contribute with trip coordination, guest communication, content, promotion and potentially introduce relevant sailing experiences to travellers through my own travel network.
I’m not looking to simply be a passenger. I’m looking for a genuine experience where I can contribute something useful, learn more about sailing, spend meaningful time at sea and become part of a great crew.!
