Looking for a Novice Crew, Mile building or Voluntary work position
Hello! My name is Rali. I’m 32 years old and based in Montréal, Canada. I recently completed a four-day Basic Cruising course in Québec, covering approximately 70 nautical miles of supervised daytime sailing. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and am eager to continue learning.
I have practical experience with basic sail handling, helming, tacking, jibing, docking, anchoring and onboard safety. I am still new to offshore sailing and have not yet stood a solo night watch. I am therefore looking for an experienced skipper who is comfortable helping a motivated new crew member develop these skills.
I’m particularly interested in opportunities around Montréal and Lake Champlain, New York and the US East Coast, Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. My schedule is flexible throughout fall, winter and spring, and I hold a valid Canadian passport.
I am physically fit, reliable and accustomed to demanding hands-on work through my moving and logistics business. I am happy to contribute to watches, sail handling, cooking, cleaning, provisioning, maintenance, boat preparation and other shared responsibilities.
I speak English, French and Spanish. I can cover my transportation and personal expenses and contribute reasonably toward food or shared costs, depending on the arrangement.
My goal is to accumulate nautical miles, gain coastal and offshore experience, learn from experienced sailors and become a dependable crew member. I have a strong work ethic, adapt quickly to new environments and value camaraderie and clear communication.
My long-term goal is to own a sailboat and travel from Montreal to Central America. I am eager to build the knowledge, experience and confidence required to make that goal a reality.
