Crew (cook) for Atlantic Crossing - on a mission to go to New Zealand without an airplane!
I (26/m, German/English/Spanish/Norwegian, non-smoker/don't drink) want to support you as a cook on your passage across the Atlantic (Caribbean/South America). Available from now to meet in Las Palmas. I'm fit, clean, easygoing, orderly, calm under pressure, and educated while having good communication abilities. Able to independently fulfill complex organisational tasks like provisioning.
I'm looking for a safety-oriented captain who communicates transparently and loves to eat good food on their 30ft+ boat.
Money/Documents/Safety: Willing to pay a fair share of food & running costs. German passport, international health & accident insurance, active Garmin inReach subscription, first aid competency.
Practical skills:
Independent & versatile cook: full and nutritious meals for big groups, provisioning according to individual preferences and dietary restrictions, baking sourdough bread/pizza and cakes/sweets, food preservation and rationing, experience in gutting fish. I keep galleys clean and organised.
Repair and maintenance: skilled in woodworking with hand and power-tool use, sanding, painting, carving & 3D-printing, meticulous when tasked with a project.
Technical: educated in software engineering, competent with many types of electronic devices.
Miscellaneous: climbing the mast (concert rigging experience), know important knots, good with paperwork, research & planning, keeping spaces tidy & organized, basic physiotherapy.
Sailing experience: none (yet) but eager to learn and willing to follow instructions.
What I'm not looking for: charter-trips, party-boats or more than 6 weeks of non-stop sailing.
Open invitation: let's meet for a coffee, a few hours at sea or a meal to get to know each other.
To get in touch, write me through the contact form on Wanderstock.earth (my project website) or talk to the guy with a laptop in the Sailor's Bay.
