Captain / Engineer
Current seeking a Captain ir Captain/Engineer position on a yacht of 23m-28m.
I began sailing west coast Canada in 2001. After many years as recreational sailor and part-time delivery crew, I gave up white collar job to embarked on new career as a professional sailor. I had already sailed some 30,000 NM, completed several ocean crossing, gained considerable experience on a variety of sail and motor yacht types, but I wanted more. I spent the 2020 Covid year studying at Maritime academies in Europe and by 2021 attained YM Ocean 200gt certification, commercially endorsed for sail and power.
I posses a vast knowledge of machinery... experience gained from large family farming operation and later from long-haul trucking across Canada and the U.S. This experience was further augmented over the last 5 yrs in yachting operations and completing AEC 1 & 2 Engineering courses.
I possess exceptional situational awareness and confidence in yacht operations. I am skilled at close quarters maneuvering, have an essential understanding of vessel systems, passage planning and execution, and enjoy working with owners and guests. Experienced in project management including yard periods, working with contractors, budget planning and financial reporting. I am a strong leader skilled at training and motivating crew to foster their growth and loyalty, and to ensure safety with all onboard operations.
As an avid athlete most of my life I am conscious of healthy living and continue to maintain an active lifestyle which keeps me energetic, stress free, and living life with a positive attitude. I am non-smoker, have no health issues, require no daily medication regimen, and fitness and agility allow me to carry out any extraordinary onboard duties that may required, in any sea condition.
