Crew for Mileage builders and multi-day trips
Currently looking for opportunities, of up to around 30 days,m
Open to all options but getting a reasonable amount of sailing is the priority
Happy to contribute to reasonable costs.
I have assisted several deliveries including an Atlantic crossing, so am happy on board for extended periods
I have experience of been crew (watch leader on a 72 Ft ex BT Challenger yacht with Tallships.org ( a youth Charity) as well as several other sail boats.
I'm comfortable with helming, standing watch, setting sails, steering a course, using a plotter and AIS and know that a boat needs cleaning!
I'm used to the sea, having fished, scuba dived (normoxix, trimix) etc, for years. I like to think I'm easy going, get along well with people, hard worker and don't stress to much.
I have a reasonable range of practical mechanical and electrical skills coming from an engineering back ground. I'm a quick learner and hard working team player. I'm a reasonable cook and can rustle up most things.
Any queries please drop me a line
regards
Karl

Lanzarote to Gibraltar
Karl joined my boat for an Atlantic passage from Lanzarote to Gibraltar via Porto Santo and proved to be an excellent crew member throughout. He has solid sailing knowledge and clearly a lot of bluewater experience. He handled watches confidently, trims sails well, and is very comfortable with night sailing and passagemaking. His calm, steady attitude was a big asset on a long offshore trip, especially when conditions were challenging or tiring. On board he was reliable, tidy, and easy to live with in a small space. Communication was clear and straightforward, and he integrated smoothly into the watch system and daily routines. I would happily sail with Karl again and can recommend him without hesitation for other skippers looking for experienced, dependable crew for offshore or coastal passages.
