Sea Miles 2,500 - 10,000
A 57-year-old bluewater sailor with a passion for passagemaking and coastal exploration, I have logged 7500 miles along some of Europe’s most challenging and rewarding routes. My recent voyage took me from Wales through the Bristol Channel, across the Bay of Biscay, down the Iberian Peninsula, through the Strait of Gibraltar, and onward to the Canary Islands, reaching Lanzarote via Madeira.
This journey combined tidal planning in the Bristol Channel, offshore weather routing across the Bay of Biscay, and strategic coastal hops along Portugal and Spain, culminating in Atlantic island sailing to Porto Santo, Madeira and the Canaries. Along the way, I’ve developed strong experience in skippering, watchkeeping, and passage planning, as well as a deep respect for weather windows and sea conditions.
Looking ahead, I will be doing a return leg to Gibraltar and then continuing into the Mediterranean, with the goal of further expanding my cruising grounds and experience. I value seamanship, self-sufficiency, and the quiet rewards of life at sea, and I am always keen to learn, refine skills, and share good passages with like-minded sailors.
Lottie is an all-inclusive boat, and we will not tolerate any forms of discrimination

Lanzarote, Porto Santo to Gibraltar
This crossing is known to be more challenging than the opposite direction and I can vouch for that. Gary’s experience and skillful planning made for a safe passage through heavy sea and 35knt gusts. A downwind and broad sail most of the way. Thanks for the opportunity to crew for you. Looking forward to another invite. Cheers
