I'm competent crew & a good cook too.
The cruising life really suits me and I so enjoy being at sea, traveling by boat. I grew up sailing on the Chesapeake Bay where I got my sea legs and the passion for cruising, exploration & adventure. I started young, so I’ve yet to ever be seasick, (never say never to Mother Nature ).
Throughout my many decades of sailing, I've owned or co-owned 6 sailboats of wood, fiberglass or steel. All with different rigs--sloop, cutter, ketch and a high-scuppered motor sailer for the North Sea. They ranged in size from 24 ft to 50 ft. My current boat is a 41 foot, ocean going, sloop rigged sailboat. I have a great love of nature and all things nautical, historical and multi-cultural. My goal is to gain more seafaring skills, explore new things and learn from the experiences of other cruisers.
My sailing resume includes 2 trans-Atlantic voyages (once as crew, last time on my own boat). Many trips to the Caribbean, US east coast and 15 years sailing the Mediterranean and North Seas.
In 2022, I got a US Coast Guard Captain’s license. But, what’s much more important for crewing, is following instructions, being reliable and having good seamanship to carry out duties. My references from crewing on boats would likely say that I have an adventurous spirit, a good sense of humor, know how to cook in a storm, A positive attitude, and commitment to joyful living.
The past 5 years, I've logged in almost 7,000 more nautical miles in the Atlantic, Pacific, Caribbean and their inland waterways. I’m retired, single and an empty nester ready to set sail. There’s always plenty of new things to learn aboard a boat. However, you can trust that I know how to stand my watch, pull my weight onboard, help keep a boat ship-shape and how to listen & follow directions. I'm cheerful, fit, easy-going and always able to pay my expenses.
Looking for a boat with a relaxed cruising itinerary where I can contribute to running the ship, provisioning, prepare healthy meals, offer a harmonious & dependable attitude and good conversation.
If you think that I'm a good fit for your ship please contact me to outline your cruising dates and sail itinerary. Thanks and enjoy your voyage wherever it may take you.
