Seeking Sailing Soulmate
I know this is a little bit odd, but I thought I’d try!
Honorable adventurer, overly-educated, fit, slender, active, upbeat, sailor’s disposition, calm in a crisis, content with simple pleasures, seeking sailing soulmate.
I was a liveaboard cruiser on our 54’ ketch throughout most of the past decade during every winter season (and some full years) in Caribbean with some additional time spent cruising in South Pacific, Hawai`i and Med (no tides!) I was working full time when on our boat which kept me very busy so I’m pretty much first mate level, interior focussed, not captain. 10,000 miles, no meaningful certifications.
Fortunate to have had the luxury of telecommuting for years from the "boat office". Mostly retired but enjoy doing a little work. Given telcom technology, I can do what I need to do anywhere including mid-ocean, mountain, or forest.
We normally kept our Amel in Curacao and spent summers in France/Netherlands. Sadly, divorce put an end to our lovely cruising years. For now, I'm interested in cruising in the Med in summer (having done little of this), happy to sail elsewhere in winter.
Seeking a strong honorable man with a kind heart; witty, humorous exchange; well-functioning neurons; grounded, good laugher; lover of the outdoors and the gifts of nature, fit/healthy. Would love to return to cruising, prefer quiet remote anchorages, warm weather, turquoise water.
Born in the US, Francophile (lovely if you are too!), lived in Asia. EU resident for almost a decade. Spent winter '21-'22 on a Greek island, spring in Portugal and in '22-'23 New Zealand, New Caledonia & Australia (circumnav of Tasmania.) Currently based in Portugal & Netherlands. Plans written in sand at low tide... but the basic principle is to follow the warmth and sunshine...
I speak a couple of languages, fun if you can too (but not a requirement).
IMPORTANT, please note -- I am hoping to meet my sailing soul mate so kindly respond only if you are:
* actually currently single (in all senses of the word);
* financially independent (as am I);
* close to my age (i.e. 2 to 3-ish years)
* reasonably fit/healthy - no need to be an athlete, just in reasonable shape, non-smoking, mentally stable, no addictions or anger management issues :)
* and have a similar goal :)
