Looking for new experiences where I can get stuck in, help and have fun!
My Background:
About 3 years ago, I embarked on a personal life-changing journey and lost 8.5st through weightlifting and improving my knowledge and attention to my nutrition.
I have a degree in Digital Animation with Advertising, however, since then I have qualified as a Personal Trainer and will be applying for a degree in Physiotherapy to start in September 2020.
My Foreground:
I am currently studying Sports Massage and an Access course, I work as a Council admin and I’m also a Physio Assistant in the NHS.
Since losing the weight I have vowed never to go back that way, I have stayed active but have been looking for a longer term way of life that keeps me fit and engaged (not just physically).
For the last couple of years I have had the idea of sailing and recently upon meeting a sailor at a Tai Chi group I have had the opportunity to try it. I absolutely love it!
I am very enthusiastic to keep at it even while I am not on the boat. I have been investing in books, watching videos, I have also contacted a Personal Trainer so that if you (or another sailor) are interested in me crewing then I can ensure I am at the right fitness levels (and ability) plus weight for what you need. Furthermore I have been looking in to ‘wild swimming’ so that I am overall more equipped and aware in the water in different conditions.
I am 32, 5’6’’, ~13.5st. I have no injuries and don’t take any medication. I am a strong swimmer. I do have an increased sensitivity to cold (emphasised by weight-loss) however, I am very aware of it and take precautions (handwarmers, layers, porridge etc). I believe I have the right apparel to start but am willing to supplement as required.
I may not be so knowledgable or experienced yet with the details of crewing or sailing in general, but I will be, my enthusiasm doesn’t just stop at the door, I never switch-off and I take attention to detail and requirements very seriously.
Currently I am interested in day experiences and next summer (and subsequent summers) I would love to go on longer voyages. I look forward to hearing from you :-)
