Looking for a Mile building, Delivery Crew, Competent Crew or Voluntary work position - Based in East Anglia
Hi - Im interested in finding (relaxed) skippers who are looking for a relatively experienced crew member that is seeking to develop own skills as a skipper. Seeking to build and refresh experience in advance of future boat ownership (when the wife will let me!). I have lots of previous sailing experience in past years sailing mainly on the East Coast (out of Titchmarsh & River Orwell) and North Sea. Also some time in Holland, Med and West Coast of Scotland so well used to busy shipping channels, tides and sand!! Opportunities to sail have been reduced in recent years due to young family, but seeking to get back out there more now they have grown. Having completed CC many years ago I recently completed RYA Day Skipper Theory and Practical and now hold a VHF Cert.
I work in blue light emergency services so shift work means i am potential availability mid week. I do have to work around family so ideally seeking short trips, weekend or day sailing, although open to offers for longer term trips!
I'm keen to learn and willing to get my hands dirty. I am especially interested in gaining knowledge in boat maintenance and upkeep, as well as the fun stuff!
I am a relaxed person, good under pressure and not very easily flappable! I prefer to sail with people who have a sense of humour and who are not worried about saying it as it is. Im not easily offended.
My longer term plan is to buy a boat and then cruise in retirement. For now just seeking to build experience and get as much sailing time under my belt as i can. After many years sailing with family and friends I have finally got round to completed by Day Skippers certification. The plan is to progress to Coastal Skipper at some point in the next 12 months if i can fit it in.
Basically looking for an opportunity to get out there and sail with some like minded people
