Novice crew seeking sailing experience exploring Indonesia and nearby waters
Hi, I'm Kevin from Italy. I recently graduated in philosophy and decided I want to spend some time exploring the world and discovering life at sea.
From October onwards, I'm planning to travel through Southeast Asia, with a particular interest in Indonesia and the surrounding region.
Along the way, I'm developing a personal photography and field-recording project, documenting landscapes, everyday life, traditional music, ceremonies, rituals, and other cultural expressions I encounter, with the aim of creating an audio-visual archive of the journey.
I'd love to combine this exploration with time at sea, and I'm looking for opportunities to learn seamanship, navigation, boat maintenance, watches, and all the practical skills that make life onboard work. I'm therefore particularly interested in finding boats or sailors exploring Indonesia and nearby waters, where I could join as crew, contribute to daily life onboard, and gradually build real sailing experience.
I'm new to sailing, but very willing to learn and help however I can — cooking, cleaning, watches, maintenance, or anything else needed onboard. I'm calm, respectful, adaptable, and genuinely curious about learning new skills, ways of life and perspectives.
I enjoy deep conversations and good company, but also quiet, contemplative moments and silence. Ultimately, I'm looking for the opportunity to learn, contribute, meet interesting people, and experience life at sea from the inside.
Feel free to text me :)
