May i join your crew in the Med?
Hello captain, thanks for your interest. I'm Sven, i love sailing and would love to be a productive and respectful member of your crew! I can be your deckhand, do night watches and be the watchkeeper. I'm fit, eager to learn, easy going, a good listener and willing to contribute to the costs. I'm 3x vaccinated.
I'm a husband and dad working as a software engineer. I like water sports such as diving (~100 dives), wakeboarding, surfing, kitesurfing and snorkeling. I'm into both aerial and 360° photography and videography. I speak fluent English, German, and Dutch and i'm currently enjoying learning French (level ~B1).
I've sailed in the past, but since 2019 i've really gotten hooked, so i completed my SBF See ICC certificate in March 2020 and am studying towards the SKS (like RYA coastal). I'm also trained in 1st aid and a certified diver. After sailing on the North Atlantic from the Canaries to Madeira in July 2020 and in the Med near Sicily in October 2020 and August 2021, i'm looking for more opportunities to get hands-on experience and have fun!
In the longer term i plan to do an extended sailing trip first in the Med and then in the Caribbean. Are you planning something like that and need a hand onboard? Let's get to know each other!
My motivation? I want to see the world in a slow, sustainable manner with enough time to get to know the individual destinations and the people living there. I like to be on the ocean and in the water. The idea of using the wind as energy source intrigues me. I also like being part of a team, self-sustaining, far away from civilization out on the sea where, during night watches, the sky is filled with stars.
passage
S. joined us from Canaries to Madeira in 2020 and was a valuable addition to the crew. We were only three on board and therefore partly solo on watch - reliable helmsman, keeps calm in stressful or uncomfortable situations and adapts easily to life on board.
