Commercially endorsed skippers looking for a couples position . UK And Spanish Licences.
We are Eli and Ger saying hello from Spain. We just saw there might be several job vacancies to be covered for the upcoming season and we are here to offer our services as a couple team (Captain/Mate/kitesurf and Scuba diving instructor + Stew/deck/cook). But first let us introduce ourselves. Let’s talk a bit about Ger:
Ger is a reliable and experienced kitesurfing instructor IKO L3. He is also a PADI Master Scuba Diving Trainer (way beyond Divemaster), and although he is not a sailing instructor yet, he holds a RYA/MCA commercially endorsed Yachmaster Offshore certificate as well. He also holds the Spanish sail and power certificate: PER with extended attributions.
Ger is currently undergoing the Yachtmaster Ocean Shorebased Theory Course after having an amazing experience crossing the Atlantic as a First Mate while delivering an Oceanis 45 from Sotogrande (Spain) to Barbados (Jan 2021). Due to Brexit limitations on commercial operations in Spain, Ger is also upgrading his Spanish boating licence to Patron de Yate (the equivalent to Yachtmaster Offshore) which will allow him to skipper sail and power boats up to 24m with up to 6 passengers in Spanish waters.
During the last 5+ years Ger has been actively involved in the kitesurfing and scuba diving “teaching/education/marketing industry” and finally focusing 100% on sailing/boating in the past 2 years. Beside this, he holds a Fine Arts College degree and had his own media production company for over 10 years providing video and sound production services as well as photography, design, social media and web design among other services.
Now let’s talk a bit about Eli:
Eli holds a commercially endorsed Day Skipper certificate and has 5 + years extensive experience in hospitality field. She loves cooking and although she is not a “professional chef” she has a naturally born passion for cuisine and her dishes are really mind blowing made with simplicity, love and healthy products. She has a keen eye for detail and her organisational skills and fun and respectful personality make her a perfect asset to have on board both on deck and in the interior department. Her respectful and cheerful personality makes her a very easy person to share time with and families love her detailed attention and delicate and discrete way of moving around on board.
Fortunately, for the past year she has had the opportunity to work for both of the chartering/training companies in Sotogrande Marina: UK´s Yachting Sotogrande and Spanish Alavela. She has managed to closely work on board a wide diversity of sailing and power boats with an extensive set of clients from very different nationalities. She has also successfully dealt with all the planning, provisioning and cooking requirements for our 27-day passage from The Spanish Peninsula to Barbados taking special care of a 4-crew passage.
We think that our skills and experience would meet your expectations and possibly would make you consider the opportunity to get to know each other a bit better.
We are currently seeking a couple’s position opportunity precisely in this field: Skipper/Mate + Watersports + Stew + Deck + Cook; and as a team we are completely confident that we will meet all your expectations. We are willing to move along any destination in the world if required.
We would be greatly interested on positions based on the Eastern Mediterranean with a special desire for Greece as it offers a great variety of island destinations with great weather and wind conditions, filled with amazing landscape sceneries, a unique historical heritage and excellent local cuisine wonders. Skippered day and/or week charters would be pretty much the same as we have been doing here in Spain. We would also be very opened to work on a long term basis with a private owner.
We are now located and working in Sotogrande Marina (Andalucía in the south of Spain): Eli as a deckhand + Stew + Cook and Ger as a Charter/Delivery skipper on sailing yachts and Catamarans. Either way we will both be willing to continue to explore new horizons in the near future as the season looks very promising in Mediterranean destinations. We would be ready to join before the summer season starts (May-June) as we still have local commitments regarding the previously mentioned training, a full wood work refit of an Island Packet 46 and a delivery from Guernsey to Sotogrande.
