About Salva Duran
Salva grew up in Cartagena, Spain, on the beautiful mountainous Spanish shores of the Mediterranean Sea. Through high school Salva worked as an instructor for both windsurfing and sailing boats in La Manga Beach and the Royal Cartagena Yacht Club.
This led to the beginnings of his career in the yachting industry. At the age of 20, Salva started racing in monohulls as bowman and later headed north to Cambridge for university studies. Once graduated from Catholic University in Murcia, he started his own business in real estate and opened his next adventure in experiential marketing of live events throughout Spain.
Salva has been living in Zürich, London, Madrid and New York. After years in corporate life, Salva came back to his sailing passion and started racing again in the 6 Meter Class while gaining his RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (with Commercial Endorsement) for both motor and sailing vessels up to 200 GT.
Having served as captain for both monohulls and catamarans within the Mediterranean and Baleares, his next stop took him south to the Caribbean. The island of Grenada was where he bought his own yacht and sailed the Windward islands with his wife for nine months expanding his navigational and boat handling skills. With his calm and charismatic personality, he went on using his excellent management, sales and planning skills by becoming a global yacht broker specializing in the Mediterranean and Caribbean sailing experiences.
