Cruise or passage, monohull sailing yacht
I am interested in some cruising / passage making - I’m available from early November until the first week of December 2025. Anyone with a monohull looking for crew in that period?
Ever since my parents first took me sailing at the age of 6, I have been a keen sailor. Starting with family cruising, I soon started ocean racing and joined the RORC. I completed many cross-channel races, one Fastnet race and one non-stop British Islands race of 1860 miles.
In my teens I also started dinghy racing, and in my 20s raced 505s for several years, before buying a Laser.
Once I started a family, I stopped dinghy sailing and reverted to family cruising, this time with my wife and sons, based in the Solent. I also took part in occasional keelboat races, such as in Cowes Week and the Round the Island race.
I lived in Melbourne for 4 years, Australia, where I raced small keelboats, until I retired 9 years ago and returned home to the UK.
Since then I have been seeking some more cruising adventures. I have been cruising in the summer in UK waters; I have sailed across the Atlantic twice (7 years and 8 years ago); I enjoyed 3 weeks cruising in the Caribbean; and I spent 4 weeks cruising the east coast of Australia.
I am a happy, relaxed, fit 74 year old, British, married, not usually seasick, cheerful, competent watch-keeper, used to living on a yacht for an extended period.
I expect to pay for my travel to and fro, and to share living costs on board.

A great sailor
Peter joined Endeavour for a 14 day cruise in northern France in November 2025. He came aboard with decades of knowledge and skill and quickly became our "sail doctor", advising on tweeks to improve our performance under sail. Peter was great company and despite him beating me at cribbage I look forward to sailing with him again.
