Friendly English girl hoping to sail anywhere in the South Pacific!
Hi there
My name is Rachael (29 yo) and I am originally from Southampton, UK.
Every time I step on a boat I think to myself ‘this is the life’. I have always been drawn to the ocean and it’s always been a dream of mine to learn how to sail. I’m not sure why it’s taken me this long (29 years old) but it’s something I’ve never stopped thinking about.
A little bit about me:
I grew up in Southampton moved to London, and spent two years travelling in Australia, on the way home I travelled around Asia and America, then returned to the UK for 5 painful years sat behind a computer desk reminiscing on my travels. The ultimate long-term goal is to have a job I enjoy and doesn’t feel like the usual mundane 9-5, I just know there is a better life for me out there!
My working background is hugely customer-focused, but it has ranged everything from being a farm girl raising calves to a Customer Service manager of a team of 5. I have thrown myself in every job I have had and take pride in my work.
My hobbies and interests include cooking, I LOVE to cook, from Asian, Italian Mexican and all the cuisines in between, it’s my pleasure in life. I also enjoy SUP, cycling, and exploring nature, I also have my advanced Padi and hope to add more dives soon. Along with cooking, I do like an occasional glass of wine with food. I would also like to try free diving later this year!
I have volunteered/contributed to two sailing trips now, 10 days in Greece and 7 days sailing around north Sardinia. I'm not a complete newbie and can help with things like defenders, ropes etc, but I would like to learn more.
2 years ago I quit my office job and converted my off-grid campervan and now live in it full time. The set-up is a lot like being on a boat, conserving power and water, however since my last two trips on a sailing yacht my love for the lifestyle on the sea has grown even more and now I am looking for my next big adventure on board.
I have spent quite a lot of time in the Mediterranean and Europe over the past two years, so I am looking for any opportunities on the other side, places like the Caribbean, French Polynesia or Asia / Indonesia are dream destinations!
I am looking for an unpaid position, but of course I am open to any paid position as a stewardess or cook etc. However - right now (Jan 2024) I am desperate to get back on the water again and happy to contribute to sailings in top destinations above. I sound picky but I am not, I'm easygoing, laid back just looking for my next adventure to share with like-minded souls.
