Permanent deckhand
Hi skippers,
Currently sailing around the Canary Islands for my RYA competent crew course certificate. I am lucky to be part of a groupe who is doing their RYA day skipper course, so I got to learn some extra skills. Able to prepare the boat for departure, hoisting, dropping and reefing the mainsail, and handling the headsail. The boat we are on is a Jeanneau Sun Fast 37. Have been on the helm today in 15-20 knots of wind with waves up to 2m. From Los gigantes Tenerife to Puerto vueltas La Gomera. Fantastic experience! I have passed the STCW course at Bluewater Antibes in October 2019.
Looking for a seasonal or permanent position on a sailing boat as a deckhand. I will be happy to consider every route to good sailing opportunities. Destination is less important for me then the possibility of learning new skills! I am aware that most of the jobs comes with cleaning, laundry, maintenance etc.. Not at all afraid to get 'dirty', more a hands on mentality guy. Consider myself as a rather decent cook, basic but good food!
From young age I've been an outdoor-person, doing multiple sports and being an active member of boyscout for several years. Before deciding to throw me in this new adventure I have been working as a restaurant manager in high end hospitality in the south of France. Running teams from 10 up to 50 people.
Thanks to this experience I am a hard worker, have eye for detail, know how to anticipate and know that good preparation is key.
For any questions or more information do not hesitate to contact me. For a good and stable opportunity I am willing to move no matter where. (only for sailing yachts)
Kind regards,
Thomas
