Looking for a day skipper, Competent Crew, Friendship or volunteer position.
Ahoy! I’m Steve — a young 59-year-old retired firefighter with a strong appetite for adventure and life afloat.
I’ve been sailing on and off for the past 6 years, logging 5,000+ nautical miles, primarily with the excellent charity CatZero, crewing a 72-ft Challenger round-the-world racing yacht. This experience has given me solid watch-keeping, teamwork, and offshore routine in demanding conditions.
More recently, I completed a delivery from France to Athens as part of a crew on a 42-ft catamaran—a fantastic hands-on introduction to multihulls, both under sail and living aboard. Comfortable, capable, and eye-opening.
I joined Crewbay a few years ago, i come on and off . I am keen to find my next opportunity as Competent Crew, Day Skipper, or Novice Crew, depending on the boat and passage. I’m easy going, adaptable, and genuinely enjoy contributing as part of a crew.
Beyond sailing, I’m into scuba diving, cycling, backpacking, and motorbikes—anything that keeps life moving. Onboard, I bring practical value as an instructor-level First Aid trainer, a reliable watch-stander, and a decent cook who’s happy to muck in.
Friendly, safety-minded, and calm under pressure, I’m looking forward to meeting good people and sharing some memorable miles at sea.
Cheers,
Steve
