Competent USCG Captain (charters, deliveries, private skipper/teacher)

Hi All,

I am a 31 year old professional captain holding a 25 ton USCG license with a sailing endorsement who lives in Santa Cruz, California. I currently work as a charter captain on a 42 sailboat and teach ASA courses on keelboats ranging from 30 to 42 feet. I have 20,000 + miles under my belt not including all the day sailing I've done.
I have completed many voyages both personal and professional including an 8,000 mile singlehanded passage from Santa Cruz to Rhode Island via the Panama Canal on my Westsail 32. I have captained professionally for a family on their new Catamaran in the Caribbean and have been crew on numerous professional deliveries including one from Hawai'i to California. I have worked on Commercial fishing boats in Alaska and have experienced many moods of the ocean.
The sea is where i belong and at this point in my career i am most interested in taking on more deliveries and private gigs skippering for families and individuals who need help learning how to break in to the cruising lifestyle and become confident mariners. I love to teach and share my knowledge of the sea and all things sailing and get along with a wide variety of colorful and eclectic people. I am truly easy going but know when to take things seriously and will do my very best to develop my client's skills and competence on the water. For the last 12 years i have done nothing but build sailboats, captain sailboats, crew on sailboats, and read voraciously on the subject. I know celestial navigation and have a thorough understanding of all boat systems. I can also speak a fair amount of spanish and am always working to improve my value as a master mariner/world voyager.
I am open to any sort of private, seasonal, and traveling work. I can provide my own crew for deliveries and the like. My goal is to never stop the pursuit of experience and knowledge as a Captain. Please reach out to me if you are interested in my services.

Myles Stanford
