I am interested in either a Deckhand or deck/stew position on a sailing vessel (of any size), so that i can continue to grow in my career and expand my experince and skills. Work Experience
Flotilla First Mate/Skipper - Neilson Holidays, South Ionian, Greece April 2025 - current
Either working as a skipper on week-long flotilla holidays or day sails, or leading 10 self-skippered yachts around on flotilla holidays and assisting all guests with docking, either stern-to or in line rafts, and providing daily briefings and social events. Sailing varied and autonomous routes and advising guests with best practice whilst sailing and assisting with nautical navigation etc. Season, April - Nov 2025
Deckhand/stew - Charter Catamaran, Sardinia, Italy & Caribbean July 2024 - March 2025
Worked as crew on a luxury 67ft charter catamaran, logging over 7,000 nautical miles, including an Atlantic crossing and sailing extensively in the Mediterranean, Morocco, Cape Verde, and the Caribbean. Responsibilities included day and night watchkeeping, assisting the Captain with docking manoeuvres, sail handling and safe winch operation, as well as ongoing maintenance such as teak care, gel coat repair, stainless steel and fiberglass polishing, and basic engine checks. Delivered a high standard of guest service on luxury charters, from fine dining, cocktails, and wine service to organising onshore excursions and water sports activities. Additionally, I managed the interior presentation of the yacht, overseeing cleaning, provisioning, and laundry, while also handling onboard accounts and preparing detailed expenditure reports for the owner.
Flotilla Skipper - Sailweek, Croatia June 2024
Spent several weeks working as a flotilla skipper, responsible for safely navigating waters and docking in marinas, etc., as well as teaching a novice crew the basics of sailing and how to be an effective crew. Worked with ~15 other yachts to form line and circle rafts, working to help dock all boats safely and quickly. Responsible for guiding guests on island excursions and assisting them throughout the week with their holiday plans and ensuring the highest levels of customer service at all times.
Front of House Manager - Housel Bay Hotel July 2023 - June 2024
Responsible for managing all FOH operations and two restaurants within the hotel, The Terrace and the Fallowfields (2 rosettes). Responsible for organising staff and ensuring staffing levels meet business needs. The restaurants hadn’t had a manager for several months before my start date so I therefore implemented standardization and structures for the business. Conducted regular staff training sessions to enhance service quality, and streamline operations. Under my tenure, the Fallowfields restaurant won silver at the Cornwall Tourism Awards for ‘Best Restaurant in Cornwall’ and the AA later awarded the restaurant its second rosette. Led and organised various functions, ie. Murder Mystery nights, wedding events etc. Fiscal responsibility at a venue which experiences extremes between the summer and winter seasons. As a team leader, I led by example and delivered exemplary customer service skills, ensuring repeat customers.
Front of House Manager - The Minack Theatre March 2023 – July 2023
Oversaw all front-of-house operations, including ticketing, ushering, food and drink outlets, and audience services, ensuring seamless and enjoyable experiences for guests. Implemented efficient seating arrangements and crowd management strategies so that the 500+ guests per show were sat quickly and safely, ensuring health and safety protocols were adhered to.
