Looking for a Captain or 1st Mate position
Hello
I'd like to find a position as a skipper or 1st mate for delivery trips and longer passages especially transatlantic crossings.
I am a lifelong sailor with RYA YM Ocean Certificate.
I have accumulated over 70K sea miles in UK, Mediterranean and Atlantic waters.
I have completed three East-West Atlantic crossings in the last four years, one in a 47ft' mono as 1st mate and one in a 45ft cat - as skipper and finally in my own 46ft Mono.
My experience in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands includes 10 years of skippered chartering on my own 46ft yacht.
I have worked for Nielsons as a sailing instructor and with PYD yacht deliveries as a 1st mate.
I spent 5 years as a voluntary watch officer with The UK Sail Training Association.
I was a membe of the Metropolitan Police Marine Section trained in boat handling under power with both single and twin screws, hard-boats and ribs. I have RYA level 2 powerboat certificate.
I have 10 years experience of 'round the buoys' racing in the Solent (UK) plus Fastnet and Middle sea races.
I'm very safety conscious, and treat any yacht as if she were my own.
I am always ready to learn but equally happy to pass on my experience in a friendly manner.
