I am married and have two adult daughters. We sailed as a family for four years and covered over 26,000 miles in that time, completing that trip in 2009. I have since added many miles cruising and offering Cénou for charters in New England. I have sailed Cénou alone extensively but i prefer having crew onboard both for safety and the benefit of sharing the experience. I can provide contact of former crew to anyone who is serious about joining the boat.

  • Boat descriptionCénou is a "performance cruiser". It has a generous sail plan, a rotating winged mast and is kept light. Cénou is a fun boat to sail as it can sail above wind speed in light air and keeps conservatively 200+ miles/day averages offshore. While it does not have the interior volume of the larger more well known catamarans, there is plenty of space. The cockpit is very securing. The boat is well kept and looked after/upgraded as needed. - Safety: 6 pax liferaft (2023) Epirb 2024, one PLB and three AIS MOB devices. Sat phone, Garmin communication device, inflatable life jackets with harness, eight regular life jackets. - Electronics: Simrad plotter, radar, AIS. Furuno GPS, ICom radio, Raymarine Tri-Data portable radio. - Comfort: Large galley with one large fridge. Two toilets, one separate shower, heater. Three cabins. Radiator heating. Large solar array that provides on average 100% of electric needs. more info at www.sailthebue.com and Instagram @sailingtheblue

Great time in the Bahamas with Claude

5

I've crewed on over 25,000nM with many different boats and captains. Claude is one of my favorite captains and hope to sail together again soon. He is very easy going, very thoughtful, calm, and extremely skilled and experienced. He can easily handle the boat himself but of course it's much easier/safer (and much more enjoyable) to have an extra pair of hands. He is a great captain, has great stories, cooks well, and is pleasant to share the adventures sailing brings. The boat is a classic example of a performance cruising catamaran. It has a wide beam which creates a lot of space inside and out to lounge around. It's lightweight and is very responsive even in light winds, so for crew learning to sail this would be very helpful unlike sluggish production cats. I had a really nice cabin and was very comfortable. Hope to sail again soon!

Crew Review

I crewed with Claude for just over a week, cruising and delivering his lovely boat further South in the Bahamas. The experience was absolutely fantastic. From the hospitality Claude offered, the excursions he took me on to truly enjoy the Bahamas, and the learning he provided me made it a great experience. If you are looking for an adventure but want to learn how to sail, Claude and his boat is a great option. Claude’s way of teaching is fantastic for any beginner, and even if you are a more experienced sailor, he will still go over everything on the boat to ensure you feel comfortable. Overall, I had a great time with Claude and his boat, I felt safe and comfortable the whole time, and I do truly believe this is a great experience for any level of sailor.

Crew Review

I crewed with Claude for just short of one year. We started in Newport, RI doing day tours and overnight charters. We then cruised up to Nova Scotia, then down to the Bahamas. Claude is an amazing person to work with. It was my first time living onboard with anyone, and as a younger woman heading off to live and sail with a virtual stranger, I can't imagine a better situation to find myself in. When we first spoke, we FaceTimed and I was able to meet his wife and two daughters, who were around my age. I was 20 at the time we first started working together, and he made it a priority to make sure I felt safe and comfortable with the situation. There has never been a strange or creepy interaction with him, which I typically find is a rarity. The biggest takeaway was that any issue that I might've had living in such tight quarters, I was able to communicate it and have him actually listen, then actively make an effort to respect my wishes and change what bothered me. It was of course only minor issues, just the typical living and working difficulties of living in a boat with another person. Safety is always #1 with me, and he time and time again gave me so many opportunities to learn and grow within my sailing career, while taking on all the scarier more dangerous missions. This was due to him prioritizing keeping me from getting injured. He is a fantastic listener, great communicator, and a kind soul overall. His family has taken me in many times, inviting me into their home, treating me like one of their own. Most recently I have been helping Claude with dry dock work in Bridgeport, CT. I have a dog now, so he found a dog friendly Airbnb, and has allowed her to come to the boatyard during the whole process. He is very accepting and adaptable and anyone would be lucky to work with him. :)
