Sailing as skipper for more than 50 years. I totalise now more than 70 000NM sailing for more than 90% as skipper on my own boats. Martine sailed 40 000NM.
Balthazar is our fifth owned sailboat.
With my wife we sailed alongside the European coast, took one year with family (3 young kids) to sail around the Atlantic ocean, sailed in West Africa.
I embarked for automnal fishing campaigns from south Britany to Irish sea.
As from 2018, we sailed all the North Europe countries up to Arctic circle and came back to the Mediterranean Sea.
Then we starting a long cruise to Ushuaia; on the way we visited in detail the Canary Is., Cabo Verde, Brazil and Argentina.
With 3 friends I visited Antarctica (my 2nd trip there) and my wife joined us for the Patagonian canals.
This year 2025 we sailed from Chili to the French Polynesia and enjoyed 6 month sailing on the spot.
We went (with my wife) through a complete training course with Escale Formation Technique: medical, first aid, engines, electricity, weather forecast, security, electronics and communication. Just to remind and get some fresh information on things we already did for years.

Boat descriptionThe vessel is an Exploration 45 built in 2014 at Garcia shipyard. She was built for Jimmy Cornell; she already went through the North-West passage and also from Svalbard to the limit of the Arctic ice pack up to 80° North. She sailed to Antarctica and the Patagonian canals in 2024. In 2025 we crossed the South Pacific and visited the French Polynésia. 2026 will be dedicated to a long crossing from the Marquesas Islands to Canada with a call at Hawaii. She is very comfortable, highly equipped in terms of security and communication. I took the boat back to Garcia shipyard for a partial refit (2019); we had then a huge sailing tour in North Europe and then down to Marseilles; afterwards, during the Covid period, the boat being very close to my home, I went through a very detailed preparation for a 5 years around the world cruise. At the end of 2022 she was fully ready for new adventures. Balthazar is constantly kept at the highest level of safety and efficiency. NB: French and English usually spoken on board.
