RYA Day Skipper | Bay Area Sailor | Seeking Coastal & Offshore Passages
I'm a recreational sailor based in the San Francisco Bay Area and a Senior Product Manager in the technology industry. I earned my RYA Day Skipper theory and practical qualifications in June 2024 and have approximately 400 nautical miles of total sailing experience. This is a personal estimate, not formally logged mileage.
I'm looking for genuine, hands-on sailing passages where I can contribute and develop my coastal and offshore seamanship. I'm particularly interested in sail handling, trimming, steering, navigation and passage planning, and learning to participate in night watches and a watch rotation under an experienced skipper's guidance.
I would especially welcome multi-day passages of around 2-10 days on sailing yachts along the US West Coast, including Northern, Central and Southern California. I am currently considering US domestic passages only: departure and arrival at US ports, without foreign stops or foreign immigration clearance. Each route would need to be reviewed before I commit.
My availability is November-December 2026 and early January 2027, by arrangement. I work full-time but can arrange time off with advance notice. I prefer opportunities with transportation and onboard expenses covered, though I can consider modest shared expenses of a few hundred dollars.
I'm happy to help with vessel preparation, provisioning, cleaning, routine maintenance assistance and other crew duties within my experience and abilities. I'm here to learn, contribute and gain meaningful passagemaking experience. Any delivery role would be subject to confirming the role, route and applicable eligibility requirements before commitment.
