Looking for a Deckhand or 2nd Engineer position
My name is Lucas Dixon, and I am applying for the Deck position onboard
Currently located in Antibes, France
I hold my RYA Yachtmaster Offshore and have built my experience through seasonal roles and offshore deliveries on sailing yachts up to 30 metres. Most recently, I served as Seasonal First Mate on a 30m schooner-rigged yacht, where I was directly involved in sail handling and trimming, deck operations, anchoring and docking manoeuvres, working aloft, tender driving, and ongoing deck maintenance. I take pride in operating sailing yachts properly and efficiently, with a strong focus on sail management, deck organisation, and teamwork under load.
I have also supported interior duties on board, particularly in charter environments. On the 30m vessel, I was responsible for daily cabin cleaning, assisting with full interior upkeep, and delivering a high standard of guest service. This included service during charters as well as maintaining cleanliness and organisation during deliveries, ensuring the vessel remained presentable and well-managed at all times.
have completed multiple offshore passages, including a Bay of Biscay crossing, a delivery from South Africa to Namibia, and coastal/offshore passages between South Africa and Port Elizabeth. During these, I stood watch and supported safe, disciplined operations in varied conditions. I am confident with night watches, have a strong awareness of heavy-weather procedures, and maintain high standards at sea.
Alongside my yachting background, I have worked as a watersports instructor, which strengthened my situational awareness, safety management, and ability to work confidently in dynamic marine environments. I also produce videography using drone and GoPro footage, capturing sailing performance and watersports activity — something I am happy to contribute onboard if useful for owner or charter content.
I am available ASAP. and am keen to join a professional sailing yacht where I can contribute immediately while continuing to refine my skills within a structured program.
