Hi I'm looking for competent crew, mile building opportunity's, and making new friends.
Hi,
In August 2025 I wil be an early retiree at the age of 59. From then on I wil start fulfilling my sailing dream and leaving civilisation far behind. I am fed up with the city life and can't wait to get exposed to nature and the elements 24/7.
In December I completed my RYA Day Skipper theory and in March I will be on a 6 day/night RYA Competent Crew course here in the Netherlands on the Ijsselmeer and Waddenzee. After that I can apply for the practical Day Skipper course.
I have done a little sailing and a lot of windsurfing when I was in my teens. I have PADI open water and have dived in the Red Sea, Azores and Bonaire.
By profession I was an engine mechanic (industrial, maritime, automotive) and I was also a motorcycle mechanic. I won't avoid solving problems, fabricating or fixing things.
In the foreseeable future I will own my own live aboard steel sailing vessel, cruising the Norwegian Artic coast for a year or two and give others the opportunity to come aboard and build miles and friendships.
Starting from August/September it would be amazing to have the opportunity to be part of your crew, preferably in the higher latitudes, but I don't want to be picky, experience counts, whatever latitude.
I have my own offshore jacket and salopette and accessories.
If after reading my pitch you have any tips or advice helping me search for a crew position, I would be very grateful as I have never done this before.
Hope to hear from you!
