Aspiring sailor based in landlocked Alberta, Canada!
I'm a Canadian sailor based in Alberta (yes, landlocked—but hopefully not for much longer).
I work in the oil and gas industry and spend my time off chasing adventures, learning new skills, and finding ways to get on the water. I hold my RYA Day Skipper certification and regularly sail in Croatia, with the long-term goal of owning my own boat and eventually taking on longer offshore passages.
This October I'll be back in Croatia for a regatta training course, a regatta, and a week-long celestial navigation course as I continue building my skills and experience.
I'm looking to build sea miles, gain experience, and meet good people along the way. Whether it's a weekend coastal hop, a delivery, or a longer passage, I'm happiest when there's a destination on the horizon and something new to learn.
Professionally, I have a mechanical background, emergency first aid training, and plenty of experience working in high-pressure environments where teamwork, problem-solving, and keeping a cool head matter. Onboard, I'm happy standing watches, helping with maintenance, handling lines, cooking meals, or tackling whatever jobs need doing.
Speaking of cooking—homemade pasta is one of my specialties. I also appreciate a good cup of coffee, enjoy hiking, climbing, and endurance sports, and have been learning Croatian so I can spend more time exploring the Adriatic and connecting with the places I sail.
Looking for opportunities to learn, contribute, share a few stories, and spend more time at sea.
Hold Fast,
Ralph
