Hello, my name is Laura.
I am a deckhand and cook currently working on a 30-metre sailing yacht, where I have gained experience supporting both the deck and galley teams.
I am looking for an opportunity to join a yacht based in Spain during the winter season. After spending several months away from home, I would love to work closer to Santander, my home, while continuing to develop my skills and gain more experience on deck.
My goal is to grow into a Bosun position. Although I am still developing my experience in this role, I have volunteered as a Bosun’s assistant and have hands-on experience maintaining and skippering my own 5.5-metre sailing boat, which I have owned since 2020. This has taught me a lot about boat maintenance, seamanship, navigation and taking responsibility for a vessel.
I also have previous experience working as a skipper, watch leader, deckhand and kitchen assistant aboard Galeón Andalucía. In addition, my background in hospitality as a cook and bar manager has helped me develop strong organisational skills, a positive attitude and the ability to work well under pressure.
I am a hardworking, responsible and practical person who enjoys being part of a team. I am always happy to help wherever needed, take on new responsibilities and learn from experienced crew members. I understand the importance of safety, attention to detail and maintaining high standards on board.
Spanish is my native language, and I am also comfortable working in an English-speaking environment. I am keen to continue improving my English, so I would be very happy to work as part of an international crew where I can practise and develop my communication skills on a daily basis.
I am motivated to keep learning, improve my deck skills and work towards becoming a confident and capable Bosun in the near future.
I would love the opportunity to join a professional crew looking for a reliable, hands-on and enthusiastic team member for the winter season in Spain.
