Calm French Engineer Seeking First Atlantic Passage
Hi, I’m Timothé, a 32-year-old French computer and electronics engineer looking for a novice crew position on a westbound Atlantic passage between September and December 2026. I am available to join from France, Spain, Portugal, Madeira or the Canary Islands.
This would be my first offshore sailing passage, so I do not claim previous sailing experience or logged sea miles. However, I have spent three separate weeks aboard Red Sea liveaboard dive boats as a diver, and I am comfortable with shared spaces, structured days and life at sea.
I am calm, physically fit, practical and a quick learner. I have travelled independently in many countries by bicycle and bivouac. I am also a good cook, very hands-on, and happy to participate fully in watches, cooking, cleaning, preparation and maintenance.
I speak fluent English, do not smoke and have no dietary restrictions. I can join in France, Spain, Portugal, Madeira or the Canary Islands up to two weeks before departure to meet the crew, help prepare the boat and complete a trial sail.
I am looking for an experienced, safety-conscious skipper and a genuine working passage, not a commercial luxury berth. I am open to sharing reasonable onboard expenses agreed clearly in advance.
My dates, European departure port and destination are flexible. The Caribbean, Central America, Colombia or the northern coast of South America would all fit my wider travel plans.
