Looking for a Novice Crew position
About me
Hi! I’m Francesco, 22 years old and from Italy.
I’m currently finishing my degree in Management Engineering and I work in the IT/digital field. However, I’m about to make a big change in my life: I’m planning to leave my current career and start working on my family’s farm in Italy.
Before starting this new chapter, I’d like to take a some weeks to do something completely different, travel, challenge myself and learn something practical and new.
I’ve done volunteering before, I’m used to working hard and I’m not afraid of getting my hands dirty. I’m adaptable, easy-going and happy to help with whatever is needed, cleaning, cooking, maintenance, carrying things, organising, or general work around the boat.
What I’m looking for
I’m looking for an opportunity to join a sailing boat as crew for around 3/4 weeks from October 1st 2026**.
I’m a complete beginner when it comes to sailing, but that’s exactly why I’m looking for this experience. I’d love to learn how to sail properly from the ground up and understand what life on a boat is really like.
I’m not looking for a free holiday or a luxury sailing trip. I’m happy to contribute with my time and work in exchange for the opportunity to be part of the crew, learn, and experience life at sea.
I’m quite flexible after October 1st regarding the exact dates and location, and I’m happy to travel to wherever the boat is. Ideally, I’d love to find a skipper or owner who is happy to teach a motivated beginner and let me gradually take on more responsibilities on board.
I’m particularly interested in the Mediterranean — Italy, Malta, Greece, Croatia, Montenegro or nearby areas — but I’m open to interesting opportunities elsewhere.
If you’re looking for an extra pair of hands and don’t mind teaching someone who is starting from zero, I’d be very happy to hear from you!
