Looking for a Competent Crew position
Hi! I’ve just joined Crewbay and am looking for an opportunity to join a boat as competent crew for an Atlantic or Pacific crossing.
I grew up sailing and have spent much of my life on and around the ocean. I originally trained as a marine biologist and professional SCUBA diver, working on boats in different parts of the world from the Arctic to the Antarctic. More recently, I’ve spent many years working at sea as a documentary filmmaker and Producer/Director with the BBC Natural History Unit, often on very remote and challenging shoots.
I’m taking a sabbatical year and would love to use the opportunity to get back to sailing, build my skills and gain some proper offshore experience. I’m particularly interested in an Atlantic or Pacific crossing, although I’m open to other interesting passages.
I’m very comfortable living and working on boats and in remote environments, and I’m used to being part of a small team where everyone needs to muck in. I’m practical, hardworking, adventurous and happy to help with watches, cooking, cleaning and whatever else needs doing onboard.
Most importantly, I’m keen to learn from more experienced sailors, improve my sailing skills, meet good people and see some new parts of the world along the way.
