Danish-certified sailor looking to build offshore miles – Canaries to Atlantic 2026/27
Hi! I’m Miguel, originally from Chile and based in Copenhagen, Denmark, where I’ve lived for the past 35 years.
I hold the Danish Duelighedsbevis, a theoretical and practical sailing qualification from 2024. I had already sailed as crew in Øresund and around Bornholm before taking the qualification, and I’m comfortable with the fundamentals of sailing, boat handling and manoeuvring. I’m now looking to gain more hands-on experience, particularly offshore sailing and sea miles.
I’m especially interested in sailing from the Canary Islands from November/December 2026 onwards, ideally towards Cape Verde and across the Atlantic to Brazil, the Caribbean or Central America. I’m flexible about dates and destinations and much more interested in finding the right boat and good crew chemistry than following a rigid itinerary.
I’m happy to take a full part in life aboard: watches, sailing, cooking, cleaning and general boat duties. Cooking is one of my strengths — I’ve run restaurants in Copenhagen, including sushi and Nikkei cuisine, and I’m very comfortable with provisioning and preparing good, nutritious food on a sensible budget.
I’m primarily looking for a voluntary/work-exchange crew position or a genuine shared-expenses arrangement — not a commercial passage. My goal is to contribute fully aboard, learn, gain offshore experience and hopefully find a crew with whom it would make sense to undertake a longer Atlantic passage.
