Looking for a Novice Crew position
Hi I am a fit, 60 year old ex-Guardian journalist who is looking for some interesting sailing experiences. I took early retirement to do lots of cycling touring, but would also like to do some long distance sailing.
My wife Clare and I did some crewing in the Med in the 90s aged 27 so I have some experience albeit it's a rather long time ago. I am fit - I've just cycled from Bangkok to Chengdu and across Scandinavia - am used to living in cramped quarters, can cook, have a can-do attitude and am happy will turn my hand to anything. Having worked at the Guardian, I am a liberal thinker, environmentally aware, but I also think having fun, laughing, and challenging yourself is important.
I like hiking, travel in general and meeting people from different walks of life. I'm into art and culture, playing competitive table tennis, and am a pretty reasonable cook. My wife is happy for me to go off and do these trips. She may join in certain circumstances.
Hoping to meet like-minded captains who know what they are doing and will be patient while I regain my sailing legs. I don't smoke and drink moderately, and am in good physical and mental health.
